When the iOS 4 was introduced we were told that the iPad would see an update in firmware during the summer and autumn, well now it seems as if we may not see iOS 4 for the iPad until November. While this still hasn’t been confirmed by Apple, the rumors do seem to be pretty solid, they stem from from a report that’s outlining advertisers’ plans for Apple’s iAd program which is pointing to signs that the new ads won’t market to iPad users until iOS 4 becomes available for it in November.
As we all know, iAds will become available for the iOS apps on the iPhone and iPod touch beginning July 1. However according to Advertising Age “some [developers] are weeks — perhaps months — away from having an iAd in the system.” furthermore they add that “most advertisers won’t be there on July 1; there just isn’t enough time”.
The report continues saying Apple is doing “all the technical production of iAds, and telling agencies it will take six to eight weeks to produce an ad after the creative is produced.”
What this means for the iPad is that we most likely won’t see iAds until November, which also means we won’t see the new iOS 4 on the iPad until later this year. But the developments are certainly something to keep an eye on!
