Apple releases app for iPhone bumpers program.

If you own an iPhone 4 then you might have noticed that Apple started processing bumper refunds yesterday, and today the iPhone app followed, if you are eligible for the bumper, then here’s how it works:

1.Download the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store.
2.Launch the app on your iPhone 4 and sign in using your iTunes Store account or Apple ID.
3.Select your Bumper or case.

For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

The selection isn’t really the biggest, among the selections available are the black Apple iPhone 4 Bumper and a variety of mostly black or clear cases from third-party manufacturers like Incase, Belkin, and Speck.

Having iPhone 4 owners use an app to claim their free Bumper case is a decidedly novel, Apple way of handling the situation. Not only does it eliminate entering serial numbers, it also cuts down on fraud, since the app will throw up a warning message if you run it on a device other than the iPhone 4 explaining that it’s only valid for that specific handset.

White iPhone gets delayed once again!

This is bad news for those who have been holding out on buying an iPhone simply because they want the white version According to Apple it’s going to be a while longer.

It was only last week that Apple mentioned the white iPhone 4 delay during their press conference, during the conference they said that the phone would make the way to stores at the end of July, however earlier today Apple released a very brief press release citing manufacturing challenges and a new delivery estimate for the white model: “later this year.”

Apple confesses that “White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year,” However they quickly add that “The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”

So how about it, white iPhone 4 fans: Do you plan to wait until “later this year” to get one? Or will you settle for the black model?
