Apple Sells A Whopping 4 Million iPhone 4S Units During Launch Weekend

When you consider all the negative reviews and bitching we heard after the iPhone 4s was revealed, the Device did pretty well for itself during its launch weekend.

Apple announced earlier this week that it sold a whopping 4 million iPhone 4S handsets this weekend, which is considerably more than the 1.7 million iPhone 4 units sold during its debut weekend last year.

In a press release that went live on Apple’s website this morning, the Cupertino company revealed that its latest iPhone had an incredible weekend.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said:

“iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than four million sold in its first weekend—the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days. iPhone 4S is a hit with customers around the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever.”

The impressive number don’t stop there either. Apple also revealed that its latest iOS 5 operating system has been downloaded a staggering 25 million times since its release last Wednesday, while 20 million users have created iCloud accounts.

Those 4 million iPhone 4S units sold were only in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and Japan, where the device launched last Friday.

Apple expects the device to launch in over 70 countries by the end of this year.
