Best Buy mocks Apple in new Ad

If you have been to Best Buy recently you will know that they offer a wide variety of Apple products since the company is an authorized Apple reseller, and it wants its customers to know that this holiday shopping season.

The retailer’s latest ad focuses on a customer who just discovered Best Buy sells all the hottest Apple gifts. The edgy commercial pits the customer who purchased all her gifts from Best Buy, against Santa who arrived too late to put anything under the tree.

While not all Best Buy locations carry Apple products, those that do are a valuable resource for Apple owners. Best Buy carries most Apple products including the iPhone, iPod, MacBook Pro and the iMac. The retailer also lines its shelves with Apple-compatible accessories for those in a pinch who need a case or screen protector right away.

Apple expands In-Store Pickup to New York City

We previously reported that Apple with start to offer the ability for customers to pick up their online orders at their local Apple retail store. The in-store pickup program launched as a pilot program at the three Apple retail stores located in San Francisco, but quickly expanded to include all sixteen stores in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As noticed by AppleInsider, the program has expanded yet again, now offering support for Apple’s four stores in New York City: the iconic Fifth Avenue store as well as theUpper West Side, West 14th Street, and Soho stores.Apple has given no indication on exactly how quickly it will expand the pickup program to all stores in the United States, and perhaps internationally. But with the program already expanding to include 20 stores in less than a week, it’s clear that the company is rapidly filling out the pilot program with an eye toward offering in-store pickup at as many stores as possible heading into the holiday shopping season.

Apple ship-to-store rolls out to San Francisco

Personally one of the biggest reasons why I do most of my shopping through Best Buy is the option for  in-store pickup option. There’s no searching the shelves for your item or waiting in a long checkout line. You order what you want online and stroll into the store a few hours later to pick it up. According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple is now offering the same convenience of in-store pickup at its San Francisco store.

Online shoppers in the San Francisco area will see an option during checkout that’ll let them select a store instead of a home address for shipping. The item will either be available the same day if they purchase a standard product normally sold in Apple stores, or in a few days if they choose a custom configuration.

The pilot program went live in San Francisco first and will extend to other stores in the greater Bay Area over the next week. It will eventually roll out to stores nationwide.

Best Buy Expects Sprint iPhone 5 in 1st Week of October

Though this could likely be Best Buy reading the same rumors as the rest of us, the company is anticipating that the iPhone 5 will be available for pre-order during the first week of October. BGR points to an internal memo:

Thanks to a leaked document from a Best Buy source, we have discovered that Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores are anticipating taking preorders for the iPhone 5 starting in the first week of October. What’s a tad bit more interesting, however, is the mention (and further anticipation) that Sprint will be carrying the iPhone 5 at launch.

Best Buy warns, of course, that dates may change. A report that Sprint will also be carrying the iPhone 5 was recently revealed by the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, ThisIsMyNext reports that Best Buy is also expecting a new “Apple Fixture Installation” on Friday, October 21st.

If you’re still taking time out of your day to call every Apple reseller in your area in the hope of finding that iPad 2 you’re after, the new FindOne app for iPhone could save you a lot of time and effort.

You select which model of the iPad 2 you want and FindOne checks the inventory of every Target and Walmart store in your vicinity to see if they have your chosen device in stock.

You can specify which carrier you’d for the 3G device – or if you want the Wi-Fi only model – whether you want 16, 32, or 64 gigabytes of storage, and whether you want the black or white model.

When the app has finished searching for your device, it will present you with a list of stores that currently have you chosen device in stock; as well as the address, distance from your location, telephone number, and opening hours for each.

FindOne currently only supports Target and Walmart, but support for Best Buy and Toys ‘R’ Us is coming soon.

Verizon to carry iPad 2 on March 11th Launch Date

According to news site 9to5Mac, Verizon has posted a banner on its site suggesting that the carrier will indeed be offering the iPad 2 as of its official U.S. launch date of March 11th.

Apple was silent in its initial iPad 2 announcement about how many and which retail partners would have availability of the device on launch day, but Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Sam’s Club have all signaled their launch participation, and with carrier partners apparently also onboard, Apple will have a significant number of distribution points for immediate sales.

Best Buy Mexico planning Feb 19. iWork ’11 event!

Either this is a big hoax, or Best Buy Mexico seriously let the cat out of the sack, AppleBitch spottednew page on Best Buy Mexico announcing a launch event on February 19th at 7PM for the rumored iWork ’11 productivity software suite from Apple.

The webpage describes an event where you can “visit Best Buy on February 19th and find out what you can do with iWork ’11”. While this is obviously not an official announcement from Apple, this event is a good indication that iWork ’11 is nearing release. We hope it is at least, otherwise there’s going to be a fairly unhappy crowd at a Best Buy in Mexico on February 19th.

The iWork ’11 event is currently listed on the front page of Best Buy Mexico, with the entry linking to the feature page with the broader description.

Best Buy to carry Verizon iPhone from Feb. 10

Best buy

This is big news for Best Buy, earlier today the electronics giant made the announcement that they will be carrying the iPhone on February 10, the same day it goes on sale to the rest of the general public at Apple and Verizon stores.

“The iPhone 4 is an important device for Best Buy and we are excited to help Apple and Verizon Wireless bring it to even more consumers,” says Shawn Score, president of Best Buy Mobile.  “Our customers have come to expect Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores to carry the best selection of mobile phones anywhere, and offering the iPhone 4 on Verizon’s network is our latest effort to deliver on that promise.”

Originally, it was expected that only  Verizon and Apple stores would carry the phone during the launch period, but Apple did mention that authorized resellers would also sell the device. As a reminder, existing Verizon customers can begin pre-ordering tomorrow, and general orders and reservations are to start on February 9th with availability on February 10.
