EA launches a Daily Deals page for the holidays

So now that we’re rolling into December, we’re about to enter into the biggest season of the year for both app buying and app sales. Right before Christmas, Apple will “freeze” the App Store, which means listings won’t get updated, and developers won’t be able to change prices or release new apps, so iOS devs and publishers are working overtime right now to make sure everything is ready for the holiday.

But there are other ways to find big app price drops. EA has made it easy for its apps — the company has put together a “Daily Deals” page that will highlight free and discounted apps that show up in the company’s catalog. Right now, for example, Shift 2 Unleashed and The Sims Medieval are both completely free, and there are a few other apps that are discounted in price.

There’s also new battle environments, new ships and new weapons for iPad owners to enjoy.

EA drops the price on Madden NFL 11 for iPad in time for the Draft

EA Mobile’s popular Madden NFL 11 for the iPad is now available for $6.99 for a limited time, we are guessing it will only last during the NFL draft, so grab it while you can as this price drop is almost 50% off the regular price of $12.99.

The app brings the gameplay of the Madden iPhone football series to big screen of the iPad. The iPad version makes it easier to draw hot routes for passing, running and defense and includes a vintage football mode that emulates those long-lost days of electric football games.

The game features 32 NFL teams and a roster of over 2,000 current players. You can play head-to-head against friends or play through a 16-game season that lets you make trades and monitor performance stats. Interested Football fans can grab the iPad version of Madden NFL 11 from the App Store.

EA price war!

Copied directly from TUAW.com

As we previously reported, EA dropped prices on most of its iOS apps this week, and that sale sent shockwaves through the App Store’s holiday season. We’ve seen tons of awesome new apps hit the store in the past few weeks, but if you look at the Top Paid apps right now, most of them are older EA favorites. EA currently has six of the top 10 apps on the store (with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 leading the way — a big name title released for just 99 cents), and it’s peppered throughout the rest of the top 50 as well. The biggest recent release on the list is probably Infinity Blade, which, despite extremely solid reviews and lots of press about its release, is currently down at number 16.

In short, EA has kicked off a price war, and there’s a time limit on this one. Apple is freezing the charts on December 23rd, which means that any games in the top 200 at that time will remain there over the all-important Christmas holiday, the point at which we’ve seen the biggest jumps in App Store sales (due to all the new hardware out there under the tree).

At least one big publisher has already responded in kind — Gamevil has announced a price drop on many of its apps, including the just-released Illusia and Nom, although it couldn’t make it down to the 99 cent price that EA is offering. I would say look out for more big sales in the next few days. Companies have had a lot of success with App Store sales in the past, and as we get closer to that holiday freeze and the ensuing burst of sales, they’re much more likely to start pulling out the big guns.

Electronic Arts offers massive sale!!

A while back EA held a sale in which they had a lot of games at a discounted price. It is time for a new round, EA currently has 17 games in the App Store which are on sale.. Every game you see below has been discounted to a mere $.99. This sale will end less than 48 hours, so you might want to make your decision soon!

There really should be games that suit anyone’s taste in this sale. Strategy junkie? Try your hand at Command & Conquer Red Alert. If you’re into sports, why not give Madden NFL 10 orTiger Woods PGA Tour a try? They’re so cheap you won’t even mind if it turns out to be a bad game.
