This is interesting news for those readers who are interested in Football, according to CNET.com several NFL teams are considering the adoption of iPads for the digitalization of their playbooks.
According to Pete Walsh, head of technology for the Cowboys, a “couple” of NFL teams are currently considering abandoning their playbooks in favor of iPads, this change could potentially save them as much as 5,000 pages of paper printouts per game.
While there is the potential of saving paper, Walsh added that a problem he sees with changing to the iPad is that the iPad isn’t seen in the NFL’s technology circles as being secure enough yet. For Walsh, who reports to famous Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the mandate is clearly to protect the Cowboys’ intellectual property, and so he seemed prepared to wait to make the switch until he and his peers feel that devices like the iPad or its competitors can be used without causing anyone to lose sleep over how they might expose a team’s plans.
We are interested in seeing whether other teams might consider this as well, perhaps even in other sports. Personally I would love to me my Buccaneers implement the iPad in their play selection.
CBS updates their Pro Football iPad App just in time for the AFC and NFC Championships. iPad owners how get play-by-play action, scoring updates, streaming video, lineups, and even control over their CBS Sports fantasy football teams. Personally I would have loved to follow the Buccaneers on their way to the Superbowl however I am just as pleased using this App to follow the road to the Superbowl for the remaining teams.
If you are an NFL fan then you know what time of the year it is, the NFL season is just about to start, and the new Madden 2011 has just been released. For the first time EA has released an iPad version.
While the graphics are not quite comparable to the console versions, they still look pretty nice, and you also get the ability to draw out hot routes and use an adapted version of the GameFlow feature from the console versions. Plus, the iPad version is also getting multiplayer soon, as well as a “Vintage Voltage Football” mode, a Madden-style homage to the old electric football games.
Before you start drooling on your keyboard you need to know that the game’s not cheap — EA is going all out with a price for the iPad of $12.99. But this is EA’s most premium game on the iOS to date, as well as their perpetual moneymaker every year around this time, so if they’re going to try inching up the prices on their iOS titles, this would be the one to do it on.
As we have mentioned earlier EA often offers great sales prices, so we are hoping that in a month or two you’ll be able to pick it up for much cheaper.
We hope to have a much better review of the game during the next few weeks.
For those of you who enjoy playing sports games, or any kind of games, on the iPad this will be great news. Two of the most popular sporting games for iPad have gone on sale today, however be aware of the fact that this is a limited time offer only. Gameloft has slashed the prices of Real Soccer HD (previously $6.99) and NFL 2010 HD (previously $4.99) to just $0.99.
Furthermore Gameloft also has a sale currently running on two of their other games including Hero of Sparta HD and Brain Challenge HD, both of which have also been reduced to $0.99. But thats not all, the savings don’t stop there, – as well as their sales, Gameloft have permanently cut the prices of both Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD and Gangsta: West Coast Hustle HD from $6.99 to $4.99.
