Best Buy mocks Apple in new Ad

If you have been to Best Buy recently you will know that they offer a wide variety of Apple products since the company is an authorized Apple reseller, and it wants its customers to know that this holiday shopping season.

The retailer’s latest ad focuses on a customer who just discovered Best Buy sells all the hottest Apple gifts. The edgy commercial pits the customer who purchased all her gifts from Best Buy, against Santa who arrived too late to put anything under the tree.

While not all Best Buy locations carry Apple products, those that do are a valuable resource for Apple owners. Best Buy carries most Apple products including the iPhone, iPod, MacBook Pro and the iMac. The retailer also lines its shelves with Apple-compatible accessories for those in a pinch who need a case or screen protector right away.

App Store breaks 3 Billion download mark!!!!!

According to a press release,  more than 3 billion downloads have been recorded since the release of the App Store, which was less than 18 months ago.  Apple CEO, Steve Jobs said, “…this is like nothing we’ve ever seen before. The revolutionary App Store offers iPhone and iPod touch users an experience unlike anything else available on other mobile devices, and we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon.”

The App Store first broke the one billion download barrier in April 2009, and then hit 2 billion by Septermber 2009. While the three billion mark took less than five month to go from two billion to three, it is expected that with all the new iPhones and iPod touches, that have been sold during this years holiday season, the next billion to be just around the corner.

Many believe the reason why the store is so successful is the perfection of the impulse purchase. Thanks to the easy user interface, it has never been easier to find an app all you need to do is a few finger swipes, and then just hit download. While the App store has seen several competitors, so far none have been as successful as Apple. If they continue at this pace, then the next billion should be just around the corner.
